Description
Juxtapid (lomitapide) is a prescription medication used to lower cholesterol levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) — a rare genetic disorder that causes extremely high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol). It works by inhibiting the microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP), which reduces the production of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.
